Table of Contents

Have you ever wished to travel to a paradise in the tropical region? You just need to keep in mind the Farasan Islands. The best-kept secret in Saudi Arabia are these undiscovered treasures in the Red Sea. I just got the opportunity to go there, and I have to say, it was a great experience I will never forget.

How to go:

It is not as hard as you think to go to Farasan island. Firstly you have to reach Saudi Arabia’s southwestern region named Jizan. There are two things to do from there:

1. Ferry: Most of the people arrive there by using ferry and The finest part of the 90-minute ride is cost-free! I am not joking, you have heard correctly. The views are also beautiful.

2. Speedboat: When you have already arrived in the island, there are many things to observe. Here are some places that you shouldn’t skip:
what to see

Where to go

1. Farasan Islands Protected Area: Visiting this area is like exploring a nature documentary. This is home to the Farasan gazelle, which is a very rare species, so keep your eyes open.

2. Al-Qassar Village: This spot is like a time machine. There are many antique Ottoman monuments around. It is quite and silent.

3. Beaches: Man, the beaches here are something else. Ras Al-Qarn Beach was my favorite. The water was so clear that you can see fish without any hassle.

4. Harid Festival: If you visit there in April, That fishing festival takes place at the busiest time of year on the island.

5. Farasan Museum: It is small in size but packed with various stuff. The history of pearl diving on the island was fascinating to know.

Food’s you must try

Farasan’s food was all about seafood with Saudi flavor as it is a coastal area. This is what you must try:
1. Harid: It is basically a fish that is grilled with different spices in the barbecue. It tastes completely different from anything you’ve ever tasted.

2. Mantou: It is like little dumplings stuffed with fish or meat. Perfect for anyone’s snack .

3. Madfoon: This meat is cooked in an underground oven. t practically melts in your mouth as it is so soft when it is served.

4. Fresh seafood:  You can pick your dinner from the daytime fishing.

5. Saudi coffee with dates: This was an entire experience rather than a drink. There’s an addition to the coffee, and the dates are really tasty.

By chance, I received an invitation to a local dinner party. If the same thing happens to you, then say yes! The hospitality was outstanding, as well as the food. You can share your experience in our email address too.

Security and precautions:

1. Sun protection: As the place exists in the Middle East, there will be scorching heat of sun, so be careful about that. The first day, when I visited, I got fried. Bring proper accessories to get rid of that heat.

2. Water safety: Use a guide if you have a plan to dive. They are well-known for the areas that are not safe

3. Respect local traditions: Farasan is a more traditional location than others. Particularly in the rural areas, dress modestly.

4. Stay hydrated: It’s hot, even when it doesn’t feel like it. I carried water everywhere.

5. Medical stuff: There are clinics, but they’re basic. Bring any medicines you need.

6. Wildlife: Look, but don’t touch. Those gazelles are cute, but they’re not pets.

7. Getting around: Some roads are rough. I mostly stuck with guided tours. Felt safer that way.

My Farasan Experience

Farasan isn’t just a place – it’s a whole vibe. Life moves slower here. People smile more. Nature’s everywhere you look. It’s like stepping into another world.

One night, I watched the sunset from an old lighthouse. The sky turned all these crazy colors, and for a moment, everything just felt… right. You know that feeling? When are you exactly where you’re supposed to be?

I also went fishing with some locals. These guys knew the sea like the back of their hands. They showed me how they’ve been fishing for generations. It was like being part of a living history lesson.

Farasan isn’t the kind of place you just visit. You experience it. You feel it. You’re part of something special when you step off that ferry. You’re part of the island’s story.

When it was time to leave, I felt this weird mix of sadness and gratitude. Sad to go, but so thankful for the experience. Farasan had worked its magic on me.

If you’re looking for somewhere variety, somewhere real, put Farasan on your list. It’s not just a trip – it’s an adventure. It’s a chance to see a part of the world that most people don’t even know exists.

So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, hop on that ferry, and get ready for the trip of a lifetime. Farasan’s waiting for you. And trust me, you won’t regret it. If you want to watch out more interesting vlogs like this, subscribe to our newsletter. It is completely Free.
